Urad dal chutney/without coconut chutney

In a pan add 2tsp oil and add red chili and fry it 1 minute keep it aside. Then add garlic fry it. Sauté till golden brown then transfer it. Then add urad dal sauté till golden brown and add tamarind fry a few minutes keep it aside.

Then add the onion and cook in the same pan in a low flame till the onion brown.

Allow the roasted item to cool completely. Put this in a mixer jar or blender then add salt and water and grind this into a smooth paste. By adding water as needed to get the chutney consistency.

Temper with mustard seed red chili and curry leaves and add it to the chutney.

Chutney is ready to serve with idly or dosa etc.
