Muharram or Moharram is the Islamic New Year of the Muslims all over the World. During this time, there are many delicacies made in all the Muslim households. And these old and traditional Chonge from Hyderabad is one such amazing dish.
This simple and delicious fried sweet dish is to die for. Though there are many variations of Chonge, I have shred a simple, almost a forgotten recipe of it here on this platform.
Meethe Chonge with both Chashni and Gudd or Jaggery, Warqi Chonge are the other varieties of this flavourful sweet dish.
Not only it's easy but also done in no time at all. You will love it's melt in mouth texture.
This Rakshabandhan, try it for a lovely change as both the Festivals have fallen in the same Month.
This will strengthen not only the brother sister bond but also the solidarity and oneness of all the religions in the Country.
Happy Independence Day Everyone!

Steps
- 1
Make a smooth dough using cold Milk as needed. Oil or Ghee can be added according to one's own choice. Cover and set aside for 15 minutes.
- 2
Divide the dough into small balls. And roll out thin discs as seen in the pic. They need not be thick like a Poori. Fry on medium to high heat in hot Oil one by one until crisp and light brown.
- 3
As these are thin, they get fried very quickly. Sprinkle some Powdered Sugar on each as they cool down a bit. I have also topped each of them with some slivered Almonds but that's completely optional. Old and traditional Chonge are made in this way. Simple and easy. Plus sweet and delicious to the last bite. Enjoy!

These are relished in the Month of Muharram throughout the City as well as in the Country too. Yum!
