A special offering to Shri Krishna on his birthday is Mathura ka Peda...this is easy and quick version compared to the traditional method of making the khoya.
Steps
- 1
In a pan take 1.5 tablespoon of desi ghee, add half a cup of Nestle milk powder and keep mixing the two on low flame...as you mix you will have lumps form but that's ok. When milk powder slightly becomes brown close to the gas
- 2
When you close the gas the milk powder will become browner in colour as it continues to cook in a hot pan.
- 3
Now first press those lumps of milk powder with a spoon and add 2 tablespoon of milk to the mixture...start the gas and you will see ghee separating.. remove that ghee and add 3 Teaspoons of powdered sugar.
- 4
Keep mixing this mixture on low flame till it leaves the sides
- 5
Take out this mixture on a plate, let it cool and then give peda shape. Coat it with powdered sugar.
- 6
Please note you don't overcook or burn the milk powder. Ensure you have no lumps in the milk powder or else it will become chewy.
Be quick and keep everything ready. Instead of powder sugar you can also use khadi shakar and powder that.
