Aval Payasam is a traditional kheer / pudding recipe made with Chivda/ beaten rice flakes, milk and sugar. This is prepared as a offering to Lord Krishna during Krishna Janmashtami.

Dry roast chivda for 2-3 Minutes... and make a coarse powder in mixie.

Boil milk.scrape the sides so that it doesn't burn.

Add the chivda powder to the boiling milk. Allow it to cook for 5-7 minutes. Add sugar and mix well.

Fry nuts in ghee and pour in the aval Payasam. Add cardamom powder, and saffron strings and do an offering to Lord Krishna.
