Ingredients

  • Chicken
  • 1 kgchicken breast, cut into strips/cubes
  • 2 tablespoonsoy sauce
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1Egg
  • 6 tablespoonscorn flour
  • Lemon Sauce
  • 500 mlchicken stock
  • 4 tablespoonssugar
  • 4 Sliceslemon
  • 100 mllemon juice
  • 2 tablespoonshoney
  • 6 tbspslurry - a mix of half corn starch and half water
  • Garnish: Sesame seeds and green onions

Steps

  1. 1

    In a large bowl, mix chicken, soy sauce, salt, pepper and 1 egg

  2. 2

    Add 6 tablespoons of corn flour to the bowl. Mix thoroughly. All chicken pieces should be well coated.

    Fry chicken in batches of 8 or so minutes

  4. 4

    For the Sauce:
    Into a pot add the chicken stock, lemon juice, sugar and mix well.

  5. 5

    Add to the pot the lemon slices and the honey.

  6. 6

    Check the flavor. Add sugar or honey if too sour.

  7. 7

    Add 6 tablespoons of slurry (3 table spoons of corn flour and water, each)

  8. 8

    Boil for 5-7 minutes or more for thicker consistency.
    Remove the lemon slices and zest half a lemon into the pot.

  9. 9

    Pour sauce over chicken and serve. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions
