  1. 1/2 cupwhole Black urud
  2. 1/2 cupBengal gram split channa dal
  3. 1/2 cupwhole green gram (Moong)
  4. 1/2 cuphorse gram
  5. 1/2 cupblack chick peas
  6. 1/2 cuptoor split
  7. 1/4 crice
  8. 5Spicy red chilies
  9. 1 Inchginger, peeled
  10. 2tablespoonsRice flour
  11. 1/4cupCurry leaves
  12. 1/4 cupscoriander leaves. Finely chopped
  13. 1 tspajwan
  14. 1tspcumin
  15. 1tspPepper powder
  16. Necessary salt
  17. required sun flower oil for frying
  18. snack, vada

    Collect the necessary materials. Place near the cooking area.

    Soak the pulses, and rice in a bowl with plenty of water for ½ hour. Drain. Grind with ginger and red chilies to make a coarse fairly thick batter. Take out and put in a bowl, mix with spices, chopped coriander, and curry leaves. Salt to taste.

    Heat oil in a kadai over medium low heat. Grease your palm; take 1/4c batter and flatten it. Carefully drop it in the hot oil. This will create lot of oil bubbles in the oil. After a couple of minutes turn the vadas with a slotted spoon to cook them evenly. After browning on both sides,(oil bubbles disappear)remove the fried vada with a slotted spoon, drain the oil, and place them on a paper towel. A paper towel will remove the oil from the surface of the vadas.

    I made 10 Vadas. Transfer the vadas to a serving plate. Serve with your favorite chutney. chili sauce or ketchup. Enjoy with a cup of hot tea
