Garlic confit

You can use garlic confit for various dishes and it's so easy to make.
I like to eat it on bread, because the garlic is nicely spreadable.
But you can use it to top your vegtables off, make garlic butter, top it on your steak, use it for pasta or any kind of food.
It does great in mashed potatoes or to make a creamy garlic soup.
You can also use the garlic oil for salads, marinades or on top of meat or to panfry meat or potatoes.

Peel the garlic cloves and put them in a heat resistant dish. I used a glass jar.

Pour enough olive oil to coat the garlic.

Add herbs you like, I added rosmary, but it can be really anything you like. Feel free to experiment.

Heat the oven to 250°F and put the dish in. It takes around 1 to 1,5 hours until the garlic is tender. Dont let the garlic get too brown. You can check from time to time.

Now you can use the garlic to spread it on bread. I like to use dark bread (I live in Austria, it's very common here).
But I think sourdough bread would be perfect for it.
