How to Keep Bananas

cookpad.japan
cookpad.japan @cookpad_jp

In my house, I am the only person who eats bananas. So I avoided buying bananas because they spoiled so quickly. I just popped it in a plastic bag and put it in my fridge, and found out it kept for a long time! Since then, this is the way we preserve bananas in my house.

- Make sure no air gets in the plastic bag. Press all the air out before tying it.
- Only place 1 banana in 1 bag. If you put more in, it will spoil quickly. Recipe by A-jin

Steps

  1. 1

Break up the bunch into individual bananas. Place each banana in a plastic bag, tie it up and store in the vegetable drawer of your refrigerator. Here's how one looks on the day it was bought.

Here's how a banana looks on Day 20. Although the skin has turned brown, the inside is still fine.

  3. 3

Incidentally I tried wrapping the bananas in plastic wrap as well as putting them in bags. For whatever reason the ones in the bags lasted longer.
