Ingredients

  1. 2Ridge Gourd (Torai)
  2. 1 piecePumpkin (Kaddu)
  3. 1/2 cupChana dal (split chick pea)
  4. 1/4 cupgrated coconut (nariyal)
  5. 2 tspoil
  6. 1bayleaf (Taj patta)
  7. 1/2 tspcumin seeds (jeera)
  8. 1onion (piyaj)
  9. 4/5 podsgarlic (leshun)
  10. 1 tspcoriander powder (dhaniya)
  11. 1 tspcumin powder (jeera)
  12. 1/2 tspchilli powder
  13. 1tomato
  14. 1/2 tspgaram masala
  15. leavesChopped coriander

Steps

  1. 1

    Chop the veggies. Soak the chana dal for 1 hour. Boil the soaked chana dal for 2 whistles or until it’s soft but not mushy.

    Heat oil, add bayleaf and crackle cumin seeds. Add the chopped onions and minced garlic. Once onion is cooked, add veggies, dal, salt and turmeric powder, 1 cup water. Cook in medium flame until it’s half cooked.

    At this point add chopped tomatoes, coriander, cumin and chilli powder. When gravy thickens, sprinkle garam masala and grated coconut, give a mix, garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
