Giloy is a climbing shrub often found growing clinging to the other trees especially Mango and Neem. It's native to India but also found in China, Australia and Africa. If it's grown on Neem tree, it's called as Neem Giloy or Guduchi or Amrutha Balli is an ayurvedic natural herb used in many medicinal preparations. It's a very versatile and a powerful herb. The stem looks grayish Brown or creamy White in colour. It is generally known to protect against the infections and improves immune system by large.
The Juice and the Kadha or Decoction made from it are both beneficial to the body especially for Swine Flu, Dengue fever and Malaria. It is full of antioxidants that helps remove harmful toxins from the body. It also helps in treating the inflammation of the joints thereby simultaneously reducing the Uric acid levels in the body giving a much needed relief in Arthritis.
There is no need to add anything for the Kadha or the Decoction at all. It's enough on it's own. But Ginger, Castor Oil, Cardamom, Cinnamon added to it gives relief in many a ways. As the Season changes now, it's a best for the June special recipes.

Steps

15 minutes
  1. 1

Bring water to a rolling boil on a high heat at first with the stem of neem giloy added to it. Pound it a little using a mortar and pestle so that it breaks easily or can be cut into small pieces.

  2. 2

Simmer on a low heat now and see to it that it reduces to half of the original quantity. Strain and stir in just a little of honey. Do not add more as it needs to be taken just like that without adding anything else for a sweetener.

Homemaker by choice and a passionate cook by heart. An aspiring cook who actually never knew anything about Cooking until i became a mother myself. With Motherhood came the responsibilities as well and this was the turning point in my life.I started to learn the ABC's of cooking, taking help from my mother and my MIL. And time just flew. I spread my wings higher and higher. With my love for excellence and innovation, i stepped into a world of homecooks with my exposure to Cookpad one fine day on the social media. And there was no looking back since then and i have not only shared recipes here on this wonderful platform but also have made some lovely friends as well. Today iam successful because of my hard work, dedication and loads of good wishes of my family and my kids in particular.
