Lauki Chana Dal is a simple nutritious curry made with lauki (bottle gourd) and bengal gram lentils. This is a North Indian Punjabi curry.

Take 1 bowl leftover lauki subji and keep aside.

Wash chana dal and transfer to a pressure cooker. Add water, salt turmeric powder and close the lid and pressure cook till 5 minutes after two whistles. Keep aside. Let pressure release automatically.

Now Heat cooking oil in a wok. Add cumin seeds and when cumin seeds splutter add asafoetida and saute for 30 seconds. Add chopped onions and saute till it turns golden. Add chopped green chilli and red chilli powder and mix.

Now add leftover lauki subji and saute for 30 seconds.

Now open the pressure cooker and transfer the dal in the wok of tadka and leftover lauki. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes on medium flame. Add chopped coriander leaves.

Serve hot with chapati or rice.
