Japanese-Style Chilled Carbonara Pasta With Bonito Flakes

I wanted to make something interesting that used bonito flakes.

It's quite a strange combination, but it turned out unexpectedly light, and rich in flavor.

[You can also make a different red sauce version for Tanabata]

TL Note: Tanabata is the Japanese Star festival observed in July starting on the 7th and ending sometime in August.

Make sure you cook the spaghetti properly.

Top with the toppings right before you eat. For serving 2. Recipe by Mikoobachan

Ingredients

2 servings
  • 200 gramsSpaghetti
  • 80 gramsCanned tuna
  • 50 grams○Mayonnaise
  • 100 grams○Tofu
  • 50 ml○Ponzu
  • 1 gramsSalt and pepper
  • 20 gramsGreen onion (thinly sliced)
  • 20 gramsBonito flakes

Steps

  1. 1

    Mix together the ○ ingredients.

    Cut the green onion into small pieces.

  3. 3

    Boil the spaghetti until it's a little soft.

  4. 4

    Rinse it in cold water once it has boiled.

  5. 5

    Add a little rice oil to the spaghetti in Step 4 and mix.

  6. 6

    Add the tuna, and mix in the ○ ingredients from Step 1 so everything blends well.

    Serve it on a plate, top with the green onions and the bonito flakes, and it's ready!
