Even without frying, it's still tonkatsu! You can make it in no time.
The origin of this recipe
I wanted to make tonkatsu healthier, so I tried making it without frying, inspired by non-fried croquettes.

Steps

  1. 1

Place breadcrumbs in a non-stick frying pan and toast over low heat, watching carefully. Once they are nicely browned, they're ready!

  2. 2

You can also use a microwave. Spread breadcrumbs on a microwave-safe plate and heat. If they start to burn, take them out, stir, and heat again, repeating as needed.

  3. 3

Season the pork with salt and pepper. Bring water to a boil in a pot and boil the pork. *If using thick pork, make small cuts on both sides with a knife to prevent curling when boiling.

  4. 4

Coat the pork in flour, then egg, and finally the toasted breadcrumbs.

For a lower calorie option, dissolve a small amount of flour in water to coat the pork.

  5. 5

Bake in a toaster oven for 4-5 minutes, and it's ready. Enjoy with your favorite sauce.

  6. 6

At step 3, after coating with breadcrumbs, you can freeze the pork. In the morning, for a quick bento, defrost and bake in the toaster oven for a speedy tonkatsu bento.
