This rich, authentic-tasting soy milk and white sesame tantan soup is super easy to make. Use your favorite noodles for delicious dipping noodles. The soup can be served hot or cold.

Finely chop the onion. Cook the noodles according to the package instructions, then rinse under cold water, drain well, and arrange on a plate.

If you're not used to making this, you can mix the seasonings marked ★ and ◎ separately in advance to make things easier. Or just add them directly as you cook.

Heat sesame oil in a frying pan. Add the chopped onion and the ★ seasonings, and sauté. When fragrant, add the ground pork and cook until browned.

Add the ◎ seasonings and let it simmer gently. Finally, pour in the soy milk and bring to a light simmer to finish the soup.

Pour the soup into bowls, drizzle with chili oil and sprinkle with chopped green onions if desired. Serve with the noodles. The soup is delicious even when cold!

If you prefer hot noodles, thin the soup slightly with water and briefly simmer the noodles in the soup before serving.
