Ingredients

  • 1 blockfirm tofu
  • Enough sliced pork belly to wrap the tofu
  • 1egg
  • as neededAll-purpose flour,
  • as neededPanko breadcrumbs,
  • as neededDried basil,
  • Ketchup, same amount as sauce
  • Tonkatsu sauce (or similar), same amount as ketchup
  • 1small amount of soy sauce

Steps

  1. 1

    Cut the tofu into 8 pieces and press to remove excess water.

  2. 2

    Season the pork belly slices with salt and pepper.

  3. 3

    Wrap the drained tofu pieces with the pork belly slices.

  4. 4

    Mix dried basil into the panko breadcrumbs. Coat each piece in flour, then beaten egg, then the basil panko mixture.

  5. 5

    Heat a generous amount of oil in a skillet and fry the cutlets until golden brown.

  6. 6

    Serve on a plate and top with a sauce made by mixing ketchup, tonkatsu sauce, and a little soy sauce. Enjoy!
