Cooking Instructions
- 1
Heat a little butter in a frying pan. Sauté the onion, sausages, and corn. Add the cooked rice, season with black pepper and ketchup, and stir to combine.
- 2
Heat butter in a frying pan and cook the eggs to make a thin omelet.
- 3
Once cooked, place a sheet of plastic wrap on a plate, put the omelet on it with the side you want to show facing down.
- 4
Line your bento box with plastic wrap, add the rice mixture, and gently shape it to fit the omurice style.
- 5
Place the shaped rice onto the omelet, with the gathered side of the wrap facing down. Carefully peel off the top layer of plastic wrap. This is a key step!
- 6
Hold the plastic wrap under the omelet and shape it into an omurice form.
- 7
Place the wrapped omurice into the bento box with the gathered side down, then gently remove the top layer of plastic wrap again. This is another key step!
- 8
Fill any empty spaces in the bento box with your favorite side dishes.
- 9
Drizzle ketchup on top and it's ready!

For Omurice ~ Chicken Rice For Omurice ~ Chicken Rice
Stir-fried ketchup rice is high in calories, so I always make it in the rice cooker. My son likes strong flavors, so I always add a little ketchup to the rice when it's done. I sometimes make omurice, but my son prefers the egg mixed in.This time I used ham, but if you are using chicken, slice it into small pieces, season it with salt and pepper, and cook it with the rice in the rice cooker. Green pepper browns when cooked, so I stir-fry half the amount and add it at the end for a nice, colorful finish. Of course, you can just cook it all in the rice cooker if you want! If you cook the egg for too long, it will not fold well around the filling. It is best for the underside to be browned, and the top side to be half-cooked. If you cook it well, it will be OK.
