Ingredients

Serves 2 servings
  1. 1 piecechicken thigh
  2. 1/2carrot
  3. 4 incheslotus root (about 10 cm)
  4. 1/2 blockkonnyaku (yam cake)
  5. 3 tablespoonswater (45 ml)
  6. 2 1/2 tablespoonssoy sauce (about 37 ml)
  7. 3 tablespoonssake (45 ml)
  8. 3 tablespoonsmirin (45 ml)
  9. 1/2 tablespoonsugar (about 6 grams)

Steps

  1. 1

    Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces. Peel the carrot and lotus root, then cut them into irregular chunks. Cut the konnyaku into chunks as well.

  2. 2

    Mix together all the ingredients marked with ★ (water, soy sauce, sake, mirin, sugar).

  3. 3

    Heat a frying pan with a little vegetable oil. Add the chicken and cook until no longer pink, then add all the vegetables and konnyaku. Stir-fry together.

  4. 4

    Pour in the mixed ★ seasonings, cover, and simmer until the liquid is mostly gone. It's ready to serve.
