Crispy, spicy whole wheat shakarpara is quick to make and tastes delicious. You can enjoy it with tea as a snack, pack it in your kids' lunchbox, or serve it during festivals.

Sift the flour into a bowl. Add salt, cumin seeds, carom seeds, dried fenugreek leaves, sesame seeds, and turmeric. Mix well.

Heat the oil for shortening and add it to the flour mixture. Mix until the mixture holds together when pressed in your hand.

Add warm water as needed and knead into a stiff dough. Cover and let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes, then divide into small balls.

Roll each ball into a flat disc (like a tortilla) and cut into small diamond or square pieces using a knife.

Heat oil in a deep pan. Fry the shakarpara pieces until golden and crispy. Mix together all the masala ingredients and sprinkle over the fried shakarpara, tossing to coat evenly.

You can also sprinkle peri peri seasoning if you like. Serve with tea—these are very tasty!
