Wash and soak basmati rice for 2 hours. Drain fully and dry grind coarsely. Keep aside.

Warm milk in a pan. Add ground basmati rice portion by portion and stir continuously. Cook for, 3-4 minutes on medium flame. Now mixture is a little bit thick.

Add sugar and further cook for 3-4 minutes till desired consistency.

Put off flame. Add kewra water mix and let it cool on room temperature. Take out in serving bowls and garnish with pistachio. Delicious firni is ready to be served.
