Cooking Instructions
- 1
Peel and cut Asian pears in half, removing cores and blemishes.
- 2
Slice directly into prepared sugar syrup.
- 3
Cook pears 5–6 minutes, to heat through.
- 4
Add lemon juice (1 Tbsp. per pint, 2 Tbsp. per quart) to each jar.
- 5
Pack hot pears into hot jars.
Cover with syrup, leaving 1/2” headspace. - 6
Remove air bubbles. Wipe the rim clean and place on your seal and ring. Place the jar in the canner. Proceed to fill all jars.
- 7
Place the jar in the warm canner. Proceed to fill all jars placing them in the canner. When all the jars are filled, bring the water in the canner to a boil. When a boil is reached that is when you’ll start your timing.
- 8
Process for the length of time for your altitude. I used 20 minutes.
- 9
After your time is over, turn the heat off, remove the lid and allow the canner to rest for about 5 minutes. Then bring your jars up out of the water. Allow them to rest for another 5 minutes. Then remove the jars and place them a few inches apart on a thick towel to cool completely. Leave them alone for about 12 hours. When they are cooled remove the metal bands, check the seals, label the jars and store them away!

This is a recipe that my family and friends are always happy to eat! Asian Pear Sorbet Asian Pear Sorbet
With this year's scorching heat, I have a tendency to buy popsicles, but I'm concerned about the sugar content and our household budget, so, I tried out different homemade sorbets. When I used a overripe Asian pear, it turned out just like the popsicles sold in Japan! My child and I are both hooked on these.① The lemon juice is added to help sustain the coloring and also for the flavor. The lemon will detract from the sweetness of the pear, so be sure not to put too much in.② Even for bruised or dull Asian pears, this is a tasty recipe!③ The sweetness of Asian pears is tasty enough, but for those who prefer more sweetness, add more sugar. For 2 servings. Recipe by cafepanda cookpad.japan -

Carameled Asian Pear and Cream Cheese Pound Cake Carameled Asian Pear and Cream Cheese Pound Cake
I received a lot of pears, so I thought they might make a delicious dessert! Asian pears have a high water content, so simmering them in caramel prevents the cake from becoming soggy! If you don't have a bundt cake pan, use a pound cake pan or a muffin pan.Since Asian pears have high water content, after adding them to the caramel, cook for about 3 minutes to let the water evaporate. (Even if the caramel gets a little runny, you're going to mix it into the cake batter, so don't worry.) Recipe by yaburie cookpad.japan -
Asian Pear Caramel and Rum Confit Asian Pear Caramel and Rum Confit
Shinkou-nashi variety Asian pears are huge, and weigh more than 1000 g per fruit. My husband and I couldn't finish one between the two of us, so I cooked the leftover half to top plain yogurt. This is really easy, and healthy too. You just need 6 grams of granulated sugar for the caramel. You only need one pan for this. After mixing the pear, caramel and rum sauce, cover with a piece of aluminum foil and let the flavors permeate the pear with residual heat. We like to have it on plain yogurt sprinkled with cinnamon powder. Recipe by Ekekohonnpo cookpad.japan
