Pumpkin Seeds Brittle or Chikki is a lovely variation of this most loved traditional Indian sweet generally made with Jaggery and Sugar. This is similar to the original recipe except for the use of Pumpkin seeds.
Jaggery is a good choice always and the natural enzymes present in it contributes to an easier digestion and therefore one can get rid of flatulence and constipation issues too. It's not just a sweet indulgence but also a digestive delight that's gentle on Stomach.

As far as the Pumpkin seeds are concerned, these are also a guilt free indulgence. These keeps you full and helps in maintaining an overall good health routine. The best part is that these can be made and stored in airtight containers for a long time use. These make for a perfect accompaniment at Tea-time or Shaam ki Chai. The most loved traditional sweet that can never be missed or forgotten. It can be easily made at home and involves a very simple process. It's not time consuming as well. Kids would enjoy it so much and so would the adults too.

Steps

15-18 minutes
  1. 1

To begin, dry roast the pumpkin seeds for 2-3 minutes. If they are pre roasted when bought, then it's well and good. Roasting gives them a nice crunch and flavour. Take care not to over do them or burn them. Set aside until use.

  2. 2

In the same pan, melt the jaggery powder and water. Cook it on a low heat for a few minutes until it melts and thickens.

  3. 3

To check whether it's done, drop a bit of the mixture in cold water. If it forms a hard ball and snaps, turn off the flame. It indicates that the jaggery is ready. Add in the roasted pumpkin seeds and cardamom powder. Mix well.

  4. 4

Immediately, spread the mixture on a greased (with clarified butter or ghee) butter paper or a dish. Flatten it with a greased rolling pin.

  5. 5

Make cut marks of the desired size. Let it cool down before snapping it into pieces. It looks beautiful and tastes absolutely delicious.

Homemaker by choice and a passionate cook by heart. An aspiring cook who actually never knew anything about Cooking until i became a mother myself. With Motherhood came the responsibilities as well and this was the turning point in my life.I started to learn the ABC's of cooking, taking help from my mother and my MIL. And time just flew. I spread my wings higher and higher. With my love for excellence and innovation, i stepped into a world of homecooks with my exposure to Cookpad one fine day on the social media. And there was no looking back since then and i have not only shared recipes here on this wonderful platform but also have made some lovely friends as well. Today iam successful because of my hard work, dedication and loads of good wishes of my family and my kids in particular.
