Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease and line a cake tin.

In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla essence.

Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add gradually to the wet mixture. Pour in milk and mix to a smooth batter. Fold in mixed dried fruits and nuts.

Transfer batter to the prepared tin. Bake for 35–40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Cool before slicing.
