QUICK Chinese Steamed Eggs

This is something I grew up eating a lot. You can add anything into it you want, but I like to eat it plain and top it with scallions, soy sauce, and sesame oil.
QUICK Chinese Steamed Eggs
This is something I grew up eating a lot. You can add anything into it you want, but I like to eat it plain and top it with scallions, soy sauce, and sesame oil.
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare a steaming pot with water. Set heat on high with lid on to allow water to come to a boil before adding eggs. Prepare the rest of the ingredients while waiting for water to come to a boil.
- 2
Beat eggs until thoroughly scrambled.
- 3
Add water, green onion, and chicken bullion/salt. Combine thoroughly
- 4
Steam (with lid on if using cocette) for 10-15 minutes, or until the egg mixture is fully cooked through. If should maintain a jelly-like consistency when shaken and no longer liquid.
- 5
Remove bowl from steamer pot. Garnish with extra green onions, soy sauce, and sesame oil to taste. Serve with warm rice. Enjoy!

Perfect steamed egg Perfect steamed egg
Steamed egg is easy to make but difficult to perfect. It will be gelatinous and smooth if done perfectly, whereas an overcooked one will look like the moon surface. My recipe is tested with exact amount of ingredients stated, using a frying pan with lid since I don't have a dedicated steamer. SALG -

Steamed Egg (Ji Dan Gao Er) is a simple and silky Chinese dish made with eggs, hot water, and seasonings like soy sauce and chili or sesame oil. It’s steamed to create a smooth, custard-like texture, making it a perfect side dish or a quick meal with rice. Light and comforting, it’s easy to prepare and full of flavor! Enjoy! Dandanyummyfood -
Steamed Eggs w/ rice and shrimp Steamed Eggs w/ rice and shrimp
I actually made this for breakfast, but I suppose it would be acceptable for any meal except a midnight snack.Recently, I’ve been making less trips to the grocery store and I’m not the type to have groceries delivered because I can’t select the items personally. Instead, I stared into the fridge for some inspiration and came up with this. I hardly ever measure my ingredients, but I’ll try to make this as close as I can. Also, feel free to swap out any vegetables. The real focus of the dish is the steamed eggs, in my opinion. Karl -
