Cambodian steak sauce has a nice combination of fermented fish , fresh herbs spices and eggplant which showcases the rich flavor characteristic of Khmer cooking and it became Cambodian staple cuisine.

Cambodian steak sauce has a nice combination of fermented fish , fresh herbs spices and eggplant which showcases the rich flavor characteristic of Khmer cooking and it became Cambodian staple cuisine.
Steps

Toast garlic, shallot, chili, galangal and lemongrass until fragrant. Use mortar and pestle to blend into a paste.

Cook fermented fish in a skillet add about 3 tablespoons of cooking oil add 1/3 cup fermented fish, 2 cups water bring to a boil.

Prepare herb and vegetable: julienne eggplant, herb.

Mix everything to combine taste and adjust.

Season steak with salt and black pepper and cook according to your desire, I like my steak medium rare.
