Take masoor dal.

Wash and soak the masoor dal in water for 15 minutes.

Now boil the masoor dal in a pan with water.

Add 1 tbsp mustard oil and salt.

Keep boiling till all the water is absorbed in the dal.Once done keep aside.

For the tempering take 2 tbsp mustard oil in a pan.

Once hot add the dry red chillies and the garlic cloves.

Once the dry red chillies and garlic cloves turn brown removed from the stove.

Let it cool down and then mash them.

Now add them to the prepared masoor dal and mix well.

Now add 2 tbsp chopped onions to the masoor dal mixture and mix well.

Now add 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves to the mixture and mix well.

Now make small balls out of the masoor dal bharta.

Serve hot with steamed white rice, a dollop of ghee and a green chilli.
