When it's a special festival like Rakshabandhan, we all rush to make delicious desserts which will make our brothers happy. My quest is to make it a healthy Rakshabandhan treat and cook a no oil/ no ghee recipe which can be both fun to make and eat. I have made mava Stuffed plum Gulab jamun which are delicious and give a sweet and Tangy Plum and Rose flavour. Try it out and let me know in the comments. First, wash and pat dry the plums.

Prepare a syrup of sugar / jaggery and water. Add the plums and simmer on low flame for 20 minutes. Then take out from syrup on a collander, let the syrup drain down and collect all the syrup in a bowl. Cool them to room temperature.

Then gently slice in the middle and carefully separate from the seeds. Scoop out the seeds and discard. Transfer the plums to a plate and refrigerate till you make the stuffing. Also refrigerate the syrup.

Combine grated pedha, rose water or essence, pink food colour, chopped nuts in a bowl. Make small balls and flatten them.

Stuff the plum halves with these mava and nuts filling and cover with other halves.Press gently and it's ready. Drizzle the cold syrup on top and refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours. To serve, garnish with more rose petals, golden sugar balls and serve chilled. Enjoy healthy, sweet and sour Mawa Stuffed Plum Gulab Jamun. Happy Raksha Bandhan.
