Boil milk in a heavy pan until reduced to half.Add lemon juice and stir until the milk curdles.

Continue cooking until most liquid evaporates and mixture thickens.Add sugar and cook, stirring, until the mixture leaves the sides of the pan.

Turn off the heat, add cardamom powder, and mix well.Transfer to a square tin, cover with foil, and let it cool.

Once cool, knead into a smooth dough.Shape small portions using a modak mold. Let set for 5 minutes, then unmold.

Tips
Ensure to stir continuously while cooking to prevent the mixture from sticking to the pan.
