Ingredients

2 servings
  1. 1 cupGrapes
  2. 1/2 pieceChile pikin
  3. 1/2 tspSalt
  4. 1/4 tspPepper
  5. 1 tbspVinegar
  6. about 1/4 cup (enough to cover) Olive oil
  7. 1 cloveGarlic
  8. 1/4small Onion (optional)
  9. 1 pieceStar anise
  10. 2berries Allspice

Steps

    Toast grapes, chile pikin, garlic, onion (if using), star anise, and allspice in a dry pan over medium heat until slightly charred and fragrant.

    Remove star anise and allspice after toasting.

  3. 3

    Transfer the remaining toasted ingredients to a blender or food processor.

  4. 4

    Blend lightly, keeping the mixture chunky.

  5. 5

    Add salt, pepper, and vinegar. Stir to combine.

  6. 6

    Pour in olive oil to cover the mixture and mix gently.

  7. 7

    Let sit for at least 10 minutes for flavors to blend.

Tips

For best flavor, allow the salsa to sit for a while before serving.
