Ingredients

Serves 4 servings
  1. 1.1 lbsyellow potatoes (about 500 grams)
  2. 14 ozgreen beans (about 400 grams)
  3. 1 cup diced cooked ham (about 150 grams)
  4. 1 cup diced low-moisture mozzarella (about 150 grams)
  5. 1large egg
  6. 2/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese (about 60 grams)
  7. 2 3/4 tablespoons milk (about 40 ml)
  8. 1 scant teaspoon dried marjoram
  9. Salt and pepper to taste
  10. 1/3 cup breadcrumbs, for the baking dish and topping (about 40 grams)
  11. 1 1/2–2 tablespoons butter (about 20–30 grams)

Steps

About 2 hours
  1. 1

    Trim the ends off the green beans, rinse under running water, and cook in boiling salted water. Drain and cut into medium pieces.

    Wash and peel the potatoes. Boil them without the skins and without salt. Drain and mash with a potato masher.

    Dice the ham and mozzarella. Add them to a bowl with the mashed potatoes, egg, Parmesan, a sprinkle of marjoram, salt, and pepper. Mix with a spoon, add a little milk, and finally fold in the green beans.

    Butter a baking dish and sprinkle with breadcrumbs, shaking out the excess. Spoon in the mixture and smooth the top. Sprinkle with more breadcrumbs and a little Parmesan for a crispy crust. Dot with small pieces of butter and bake at about 350°F (180°C) for 35–40 minutes, or until golden, depending on your oven.
