Soak saffron in a tbsp of warm milk and keep aside.

Mix 1 cup water and 1 cup milk. Warm a bit and keep aside.

To prepare the halwa, heat ghee in a pan on a low flame.

Add the sooji and cook for a minute.

Add in the moong dal atta. Roast on low heat until aromatic and begins to change color.

Next, add the warmed water and milk. Add slowly, stirring continuously until no lumps remain.

Once the mixture begins to bubble, add the sugar and cardamom powder.

Add the saffron. Continue cooking until the halwa thickens and the ghee begins to appear on the sides. The halwa will begin to leave the sides of the pan. My kitchen is a nut-free kitchen. You can add chopped nuts here.

The Nut-Free Moong Dal Atta Halwa is ready to serve. Garnish with cardamom seeds. Serve hot.
