Bring the warmth of tradition into your kitchen! This is the authentic recipe for rich, homemade Laddoos—a wholesome Indian sweet passed down through generations. These energy balls are specially prepared for the cold months to keep you strong and nourished.
We use a rich blend of Bajra, Kuttu, and Atta, combined with nutritious Gond (edible gum) and Halim seeds, making them truly melt-in-your-mouth. Watch till the end to see the simple trick for mixing the powdered sugar perfectly!
Steps
- 1
Roast Dry Fruits: Roast the almonds, cashews, raisins, and fox nuts in a little ghee, one by one, until lightly golden. Set aside.
- 2
Roast Seeds: Roast the sesame seeds (til) and flaxseeds until you hear a crackling sound. Roast the Halim seeds briefly. Set aside.
- 3
Fry Gond: Fry the Edible Gum (Gond) in hot ghee until it puffs up and becomes soft (like popcorn). Set aside.
Roast Flours: In batches, roast the Bajra atta, Kuttu atta, and regular atta with some ghee until each turns golden brown and smells fragrant
- 4
Grind: Grind the roasted dry fruits, seeds, and the fried gond together. Grind the seedless dates separately.
Warm the Sweetener: In a large pan or thali, melt some ghee and warm the powdered sugar over low heat. Do not cook it; just warm it gently.
- 5
Mix & Form: Turn off the heat. Immediately add the roasted flours, the ground dry fruit mixture, and the ground dates to the warm sugar/ghee mixture. Mix everything very well.
Shape: While the mixture is still warm, quickly roll it into small, tight Laddoos.
