A rendition of Shakshuka

My friend made me shakshuka one time. And I could never make it right so I just wanted to share my attempt that was pretty good but not exactly right. But that's cooking right !

Steps
- 1
Sauté diced onion in a pan until soft. Add black pepper, garlic powder, and adobo powder.
- 2
Add sliced sausage and cook until browned.
- 3
Stir in chickpeas and tomato paste, mixing well.
- 4
Pour in leftover tomato sauce, water or broth, and sprinkle in homemade masala and salt.
- 5
Simmer for 5 minutes, adding more liquid if needed for a saucy consistency.
- 6
Make 4 wells and crack eggs into them. Cover and poach eggs until whites are set but yolks are still runny.
- 7
Drizzle olive oil on top, sprinkle extra black pepper, and serve with bread.
Tips
For a saucier dish, add more tomato sauce or a splash of water/broth before poaching the eggs.
