It's a traditional Indian dessert from states of Maharashtra and Gujrat. It is made during big festivals like Diwali, Dasara and Gudipadwa. It's a comfort and soothing food made using curd.

Boil the milk for 15 minutes. Cool the milk till it is warm. Then set it for curd for 6 hours. Keep it in the fridge for 6 hours.

Take out the curd in a muslin cloth and tie and hang it for 6 hours to drain water from the curd. (If the weather is hot, make the hung curd in the fridge). The solid curd obtained is called chakka or maska.

Soak 15 - 20 strands of saffron in a tbsp milk.

Now take the chakka in a soup strainer. Add powder sugar and strain together to make it smooth. Add malai, saffron with milk, cardamom powder and nutmeg powder. Mix it thoroughly. Then add chopped nuts according to your choice. Also add raisins and mix well. Tasty creamy Shrikhand is ready. Take it out in a serving bowl. Garmish it with nuts and saffron. Store in a fridge and serve cool.

Serve with puries or rotis. Enjoy this cool comforting dessert.
