Add all the ingredients to the bread machine pan. Start with liquids, then add solids, and finally the yeast.

Select the whole wheat bread program, 2-pound loaf size, and dark crust or as preferred.

Check the dough consistency during the first 8 minutes and add flour or water if necessary.

When the signal sounds, add the caraway seeds.

Additionally, when the first rise is complete and before the second rise begins, remove the dough and the kneading paddle from the pan, shape the dough by hand, and return it to the pan.

Once the baking cycle is complete, remove the bread from the pan and let it cool on a rack.
