  • 1 cupsoaked green moong dal
  • 2 cupchopped spinach
  • 1medium size chopped onion
  • 1big size finely chopped tomato
  • 1 tspcrushed garlic
  • 1 tspginger chilli paste
  • 2 tspghee
  • 2 tspoil
  • 1 tspturmeric powder
  • 1 tspred chilli powder
  • 1 tsproasted coriander jeera powder
  • 2 tsplemon juice
  • 2cloves
  • 1small stick cinnamon
  • 1 tspcumin seeds
  • 2/4 tspasafoetida
  • 1 tspsugar (optional) to maintain green colour of spinach
  • to tasteSalt
  • as requiredWater

Steps

40 minutes
  1. 1

    Wash and soak moong dal at least for 2 hours. Cook in the pressure cooker until four whistles blow. Wash spinach under running water and chop it.

    Take a pan, add ghee, oil, jeera, hing, cloves and cinnamon. Saute chopped onion until turns translucent. Now add chopped spinach, cook it until shrinks.

    Add tomato, mix well. Cook for a minute. Now add all masala, salt, and sugar. Mix well. Add cooked moongdal.

    Add water to adjust consistency. Mix well. Cook on simmer for a couple of minutes. Turn off gas. Squeeze lemon juice, mix well. Ready to serve.
