First, make the cream filling: In a saucepan, combine the milk and cornstarch. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens. Transfer to a blender, add the cheese, and blend until the cheese is fully melted and the mixture is smooth.

Mix the melted butter with the ground bread until well combined. Spread half of the bread mixture evenly in a baking dish.

Pour the cream filling over the bread layer, then cover with the remaining bread mixture. Sprinkle with more melted butter or ghee and sugar. Bake at 300°F (150°C) until golden brown on top and bottom.

Immediately pour the simple syrup over the hot kunafa. Enjoy!
