First you sort the dried omena to ensure its clean before boiling

Put 2 cups of clean water in a sufuria then add 1 cup of omena to boil for 2 hrs in a jiko.

After boiling, add the spices like onions until soft. Then pounded garlic till it turns to light brown, then tomatoes after which the half cup of milk is added plus salt.

Then add Omena to steam for 20 to 30 mins on a low heat.

It's now ready, you can serve with ugali.
