Soak tamarind and salt together in 1/2 cup water for 10 min.

When the tamarind gets mushy, combine them in water with your hand and extract the thick liquid in a vessel.

You can add another 1/2 cup water and repeat the process to get tamarind extract. Keep aside to use at the later stage

In a kadai, add ingredients to temper first.

When the mustard pops, add sliced onion saute till it turns golden.

Add the grinded ingredients to the kadai with chilli powder and dhania powder and saute well till the raw smell leaves.

Add tamarind extract mix well. Close the kadai with lid and allow it to boil for 7 min.

Check for salt and add if you want more.

Add coconut milk mix well and add cleaned fish pieces. Allow it to get cooked for 5 min closing the lid

Turn the fish onto the other side. Close the lid and cook for another 5 min.

By now the oil will leave to the sides of the kadai.

Serve hot with white rice and fish fry.
