Kadala Curry (bengal Gram Curry)

This dish is my own version of typical Kerala Kadala curry using very little coconut and oil. This can be had with Puttu (Rice Steam Cake) or Appam, Idi Appam, Dosa and idli.

This dish is my own version of typical Kerala Kadala curry using very little coconut and oil. This can be had with Puttu (Rice Steam Cake) or Appam, Idi Appam, Dosa and idli.
Steps

Soak kadala overnight

Pressure cook kadala & shallots till 6 whistles

Put off the gas and allow the steam to settle
- 4
Grind all items except oi, mustard seeds & curry leaves

Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds
- 6
Add curry leaves after spluttering of mustard seeds

Add the ground masala and saute for 2 to 3 minutes.

Add cooked kadala along with stock (Water used for pressure cooking)

Bring to boil till the gravy is thick

Transfer to serving bowl
