Wash toor dal and boil in cooker with sufficient quantity of water and turmeric powder. I normally cook the veggies also along in the pressure cooker. This way its just faster..:)

Grind the ingredients in the "To Grind" section into a fine paste. I prefer using red chilies... gives a different flavor to the dish

In a pan add the cooked toordal and veggies, add the grated coconut paste to this mixture. (as the veggies are already pressure cooked no need for additional cooking time) give it five minutes and bring the whole thing to a boil.

To finish Fry mustard seed,urad dal and Curry leaves in oil add to the mixture (I prefer using coconut oil as it brings a good flavor to the dish)
