Ingredients

  1. 1/4 tbspnPoppy seeds -
  2. 5 strandsCilantro -
  3. 1/2 cupmint leaves -
  4. 1/2 cupOnion -
  5. 1 inchGinger -
  6. Green chillies - as per your taste (I use 2 thai chilli)
  7. 2Cooking oil tbspns -
  8. 1 tspnMustard seeds -
  9. 1 inchCinnamon stick -
  10. 2Cloves -
  11. 2Bay leaves -
  12. 4Cardamom whole -
  13. 2 tspnsSalt - (Or according to taste)
  14. 1 strandCurry leaves -
  15. 1/2 cupOnion chopped -
  16. 1/4 cupCarrot chopped -
  17. 1/4 cupBeans chopped long -
  18. 2Potato chopped in big pieces -
  19. 1/4 cupGreen peas -
  20. 2 cupsRice - (I used sona masuri rice but you can use basmati rice too).

Steps

  1. 1

    First grind all the ingredients under "For grinding/paste".

  2. 2

    Wash the rice and keep it aside.

  3. 3

    Take a pressure cooker/pan. Add in the cooking oil.

  4. 4

    Once the oil is hot, add in the mustard seeds. After it crackles, add in the curry leaves and fry till moisture is removed.

  5. 5

    Now add cardamon seeds, cloves, cinnamon, bay leaves and saute for few mins.

  6. 6

    Add chopped onions and the ground paste and fry few a min.

  7. 7

    Now add all the other veggies (green peas, carrot, beans, potato, beans) and saute for few 5 mins.

  8. 8

    Add in salt and water and once water starts boiling, add in the washed rice.

  9. 9

    Pressure cook this (3 whistles)

  10. 10

    Once done, mix it once again before you serve! (It goes well with cucumber and tomato raita).
