Lamb Liver and Potato Curry

As a full time working mum with an almost 2 year old in full time child care I always make sure D eats right. Its quite rare that she eats junk food, she has never seen chocolate LOL (I know I am very mean), the only form of sugar she has eaten thus far is birthday cake and that's on very rare occasions .... Above everything I do with work, life, this blog or my business its her food. I offer different cuisines and incorporate as much as fresh and good ingredients in her meals
When she was younger than 1 and didn't have a whole lot of teeth, I used to buy lamb liver and would cook it with veggies and puree it and stuff her up... I decided to make her a dish with lamb liver and planned to make a curry as shes been really into curries the past few weeks. I was pleased with the way this curry turned out, it is not spicy but the real test was when the food was placed in front of her! She snuffed the food down and asked for more. I think I can confidently make this dish again for her :)
I grated the liver simply because cooked pieces of liver is actually harder to chew on if you are a kid. If your kid is fussy and wouldn't usually eat liver, this is an excellent recipe to try because they can only see the diced potatoes and not the grated liver

Steps
- 1
I made sure the liver was frozen as a rock and then I grated it really fine. Once you have done that and got all the other dicing and chopping done, start on this curry
- 2
In some heated oil, add the cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, onion and the ginger and garlic pastes
- 3
Saute on medium low until the onions have softened
- 4
Next add the masala powders and tomatoes. If you are using cinnamon powder, add it here, mix well to combine and allow the spice powder to cook through and the tomatoes to get a little mushy
- 5
Grated lamb liver and potatoes go in next. Mix well, add a 1/4 cup of water, season with salt and allow the curry to cook on low heat
- 6
The liver will cook fast, so its really the potatoes you want to cook through. Right when its done, I added the freshly chopped coriander leaves to give an extra lift to the already good smelling curry
- 7
I served this with white rice. The other alternates are couscous, mashed potatoes or even pasta. If your kid does not like munching on pieces of potatoes and onions, allow the curry to cool a bit and then puree it into a sauce :)
