Chocolate Modaks

After winning contests back to back, I am in high spirits to keep it moving.. :) So today's try was chocolate modaks. It is perhaps the best sweet to try out during this festive season. A small twist to the regular modaks, and there you go...a fusion of traditional and modern flavors..!! 'Fusion' was the feedback from hubby dear.. :)
It is a super simple recipe and quite easy to prepare if you have rice flour at home. The crunchiness of coconut and the sweetness from the chocolate blends well with the soft outer rice cover. Be sure to cool them completely before serving.
Tanu loved it, and even Chinna was asking for more. After all, it was chocolate..!! ;)
So, treat yourselves with this divinely delicious chocolate modaks. It is super easy to prepare too with minimum number of ingredients.

Steps

15 mins
  1. 1

    Heat a pan.

  2. 2

Add in the grated coconut and chocolate and mix.

  3. 3

See to that the mixture does not get burnt as chocolate melts very fast, so turn the flame off as soon as it melts and combines with coconut, may be 1 minute.

  4. 4

Switch the flame off and allow it to cool.

  5. 5

Meanwhile prepare the rice flour dough by mixing the flour, salt and water as required. The dough should neither be too tight nor too loose.

  6. 6

Once done, take small balls and flatten with your palms.

  7. 7

Place 2-3 spoons of the chocolate coconut filling and close from all the sides to form the shape of modaks.

  8. 8

Steam for 15-20 minutes, until cooked completely.
