Orange Ginger Kombucha
A simple second ferment with a lot of flavour!
#june2027
Steps
- 1
Sanitize and thoroughly rinse or treat glass jar with boiling water
- 2
Put one full thin slice of orange in the jar along with one slice of just the orange rind (white removed) along with the plain kombucha and 2/3 the juice of the orange. (See notes)
- 3
Leave for 3-5 days at room temperature in a dark area.
- 4
Place the fresh ginger in the night before you serve and leave it in the fridge overnight!
Tips
1. A little ginger goes a very long way and can cover the kombucha flavour. If you like that, it's perfect. Otherwise you can use less or take it out after it gets to the right flavour.
2. More orange juice means more sweet but can also be fermented if you leave it longer.
3. If a scoby forms in the orange floating on top, then filter out the juice from underneath before serving but that means it was a safe success!
