Cooking Instructions
- 1
Put the liner in the slow cooker (crock pot) for easy cleanup later.
- 2
(Optional) If you want a tender & less rubbery/chewy rib, take a knife at the end of each rack and remove the membrane from the ribs.
- 3
Lightly coat your dry rub seasoning to the ribs.
- 4
Layer the each rack of ribs on top of each other in the crock pot, putting a layer of BBQ sauce in between and on the very top. Don't forget to save some for coating each rack later!
- 5
Dice up the onion and evenly add over the ribs.
- 6
Put the lid on your crock pot and turn it on the LOW setting for 8-10 hours.
- 7
Remove each rack gently and lay them on a foil-lined baking sheet.
- 8
Coat each rack with the remaining BBQ sauce.
- 9
Broil under your oven's broiler for 3-5 minutes until the BBQ sauce starts to bubble and caramelize.

Slow Cooker Barbecued Ribs Slow Cooker Barbecued Ribs
Every summer when I was home during college and then my early 20s, I would make ribs at least once a summer. It was a summer staple in my house. But the heat from the oven, combined with the summer heat & humidity, made it unbearable in my house.Time passes and I stop making the ribs during the summer, leaving it for the cooler months. Even after I got a place with an AC, I did not dare to make ribs during the summer.Fast forward to a year ago when we bought our slow cooker. A long time friend suggested that I should try to make my ribs in the slow cooker. It took me almost a year, but I finally tried it.I checked out a few recipes, but they all said to broil them for a few minutes after they were done in the slow cooker. We may have a good AC now, but I refuse to put the oven on ever during the summer. Taking the chance, I did not put them .in the slow cooker. Trust me when I say this, the ribs do not need to be put into the oven. They are fall off the bone delicious.Serve with sauteed/steamed/grilled vegetables, potato/macaroni salad, corn, corn bread, macaroni & cheese, etc.Enjoy! J.A.B. -

"Smoked" BBQ Ribs "Smoked" BBQ Ribs
A rack of perfectly smoked ribs is one of life’s great pleasures for meat-lovers. Pork or beef; they’re served dry or wet, with a savory sweet or tangy spice flavor (or both) from seasonings and the sauce that are used. The key though is definitely “low & slow.” [Translation: low heat, slow cooking time] In the South (US), BBQ is a noun, not a verb. So fire up the grill or smoker, it’s Q time. Rick M
