Ingredients

3 serves
  • 1/4Kgs of green grams
  • 2garlic cloves. pounded
  • 1 tbspginger pounded / grated
  • 1medium sized onion finely chopped
  • 2medium tomatoes chopped
  • 1 tspturmeric powder
  • 1 tspcurry powder
  • To tastesalt
  • 10 mlsoil

    First soak the green grams for around 5 hours.

  2. 2

    Then wash and put in a saucepot to cook for 40 to 50 minutes. It should be soft on that it can be crushed easily by your thumbs.

  3. 3

    In to a separate saucepot, heat oil and add the onions. Fry the onions until light brown then add the garlic and ginger and fry for 3 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add tomatoes cook till soft and mushy. Add all the dry spices: Curry powder, tumeric, salt.

  5. 5

    Add the pre boiled green grams stir and add water. Add water according to the level of green grams.

  6. 6

    Allow to simmer for five minutes. You can adjust your seasonings accordingly.

  7. 7

    You can adjust the consistency of the gravy according to your liking.

  8. 8

    Serve with hot Rice or Chappati.
