You can serve shawarma during Ramadan when gathering with family. It's packed with protein and will save you a whole day of dishwashing when preparing it for your guests at the end of Ramadan. Serve it with cold mango juice or apricot juice (Qamar al-Din). Shawarma is a type of Middle Eastern food that originated in the Levant. It consists of meat grilled in a special way, cooked by heat and radiation from a heat source, which can be electric, gas, or charcoal. Shawarma is sold in fast food restaurants. Shawarma meat is usually beef, camel, lamb, or chicken, stacked on a vertical spit. The meat is prepared in various thicknesses, sometimes up to half a meter in diameter. The spit stands vertically next to the heat source, which cooks the meat as it rotates. At home, you can make shawarma by slicing the meat into small pieces, seasoning it with your favorite spices, and pan-frying it in oil.
