Beat the eggs with the sugar.

Mix all the ingredients together (except the egg whites).

Beat the whites into a meringue.

Add the meringue and stir everything lightly, using your hand, towards one direction.

Bake at 180°C for 45 minutes to about one hour, depending on the oven. Test with a thin wooden skewer.

Make the syrupboil the water and sugar for 5 minutes. Pour over the cake. One should be warm, the other one cold. For example warm syrup, cold cake.
