Kourabiedes (traditional Christmas butter cookies) that are different from all the rest, ones that there's not a kid (and not only) around who won't love them. And a detailyou won't have to worry that they will choke on the icing sugar or that they mess up the house. My son brought me this recipe when he was in kindergarten and they made kourabiedes with their teacher and since then we never made the traditional ones ever again.

Ingredients

25-30 pieces
  1. 300 gbutter
  2. 125 groasted almonds (coarsely cut)
  3. 110 gicing sugar
  4. 500 gflour
  5. 1/2 tspbaking powder
  6. 160 gchocolate couverture, melted
  7. 1/4 cupbrandy
  8. For the glaze 
  9. chocolate couverture
  10. milk
  11. brandy

Steps

    Beat the butter and the icing sugar in the mixer until they get fluffy.

    Add the almonds and the melted chocolate couverture. 

  3. 3

    Sift the flour with the baking powder and then add them into the mixture together with the brandy.

  4. 4

    Set aside the dough to firm in the fridge for 1-2 hours, then roll it out into a sheet of about 1 cm thick and using the cookie cutters that you like το cut it into the desired shapes. (If you don't have cookie cutters, form the dough into the traditional kourabiedes shape or use a glass turned upside down to cut the shapes).

    Bake in a preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes at 170°C.

    When they cool you can brush them with the glaze that you have aldready prepared by mixing melted chocolate couverture with a little bit of milk and brandy or just plain melted chocolate couverture.

    Store in a metal container.
