Lokums with corn starch

It is very similar to halva Farsalon (a traditional Greek halva from Farsala made with corn startch) but has some differences and you can have it as a lokum, or loukoumi as it is widely known in Greece.

Steps
- 1
Roast the walnuts for a while in the two out of the five tbps of butter that the recipe calls for.
- 2
Place 1 cup of the water with the 2 cups of sugar in a pot adding the 3 remaining tbsp of butter and boil.
- 3
Meanwhile, dissolve the corn starch in 1 cup of water. Mix well to thoroughly dissolve.
- 4
Add the roasted walnuts in the pot that is boiling as well as the corn starch mixture stirring constantly until it thickens to the consistency of the halva Farsalon, which means that it should be like a really thick pudding and not runny.
- 5
Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper and spread the mixture to cool.
- 6
When it cools, cut into small pieces, sprinkle a platter with icing sugar, place the small pieces of the sweet one by one in the platter and sprinkle with icing sugar on top.
